A robust free trial with the industry-standard limitations
Let’s take a minute and talk about exactly what you get with the EliteSingles free trial and what you aren’t going to get. Having the right expectations is paramount to getting the most out of the offers available.
Feature | Basic (Free) | Premium (Paid) |
---|---|---|
Edit/Customize Profile | Yes | Yes |
See All Your Matches | Yes | Yes |
See All Member’s Photos | Yes* | Yes |
Have You Met? (Swipe Feature) | Yes | Yes |
Curated Matches | Yes | Yes |
Filter Matches | Yes | Yes |
Send Smiles (Likes) | Yes | Yes |
Start Conversations | ❌ | Yes |
Read Receipts | ❌ | Yes |
See Who Viewed You | ❌ | Yes |
If you noticed the asterisk on “See All Member’s Photos”, don’t worry we’ll get to that. It was just a lot to explain in a small space. Below, we’re going to break down the details of the free trial you should be aware of.
That pesky asterisk is some good and some not.
Many dating apps only allow you to see one photo from a member if you’re on a free trial account. With EliteSingles, though, you’re able to see every single photo. Great, right? Well, there is one small drawback, and the word ‘small’ is the operative one.
Yes, you can see every single photo by clicking through them. However, when you go to click on any of the photos to enlarge them, you are taken to a purchase screen. On desktop, this is the size you’ll see the photos:
Note: We blurred the photo and the member’s name to respect their privacy. You will see these unblurred with your EliteSingles free trial account.
It’s not ideal, per say, but at least you’re getting to see all of them with the free trial and it’s not like they’re tiny thumbnails (they’re 310 x 310 px for any nerds like us out there who are curious).
You used to have some access to communication, but we get it.
In the past, free trial members on EliteSingles had the ability to respond to messages that came from paid members. They weren’t allowed to send the first message, but they could carry on a conversation that had been started.
As of our latest review, this is no longer the case. Bummer? Yes. But is it what is standard in the industry? Of course. While we’d love to have our cake and eat it too, we understand that dating apps do need to make money, so we’re never upset when they do. The more resources they have, the safer our experience usually is.
You can send smiles, which are EliteSingle’s flirts
Just because you can’t send full-fledged messages, doesn’t mean you can’t start the connection process. Free trial members at EliteSingles can send smiles to other members (and can also see who like them). Again, you will still need up upgrade to message, but you’ll be able to see who might be interested in you.
Additionally, if you send a smile to someone and they send you a message, you won’t be able to read it without upgrading, but you’ll know you’re upgrading to at least one message from someone you’re interested in.
How long is the free trial?
Something important not included in our free trial features chart is how long you get access to all of this. The Elite Singles free trial has no end date, andyou can be a free member for as long as you’d like. You’re not required to provide any billing information or credit card info to get signed up either. All you have to do is click the link at the top of this page, and you’ll be automatically set up to receive your free trial and it’s good for as long as you’d like.
The Elite Singles 3 Day Money Back Guarantee
While you may not see it posted on the company’s homepage, the Elite Singles 3 Day Guarantee is still alive and well—in some states. While it is technically not listed as a free trial, for all intents and purposes, that is what it is. If you decide to upgrade your free trial account to a paid account, you’ll be able to get a no-questions-asked refund within the first three days if you are not satisfied.
The company refers to this as the “cooling off” period, and frankly, we didn’t know what that meant until we looked it up (we shared a link to the FTC website in case you’re curious). What we do know, though, are all the details with the guarantee. Here are the important takeaways of the Elite Singles 3 day guarantee.
- Available on all paid accounts immediately after purchase
- Good for a full refund of 100% of costs associated with membership fee
- No-questions-asked. If you’re not happy, you’ll get your refund
- You are required to let customer service know within 72 hours of your paid account activation. This clock only starts once you click the pay button.
The language in the company’s terms of service say this [Keep reading because this has been removed]:
Section 12.1 “As a paying Member, you may withdraw from your paid Membership at any timewithin the first three daysof making your initial payment.”
Section 12.3 “If you cancel your Membership within the first 3 days of your paid Membership and you have made any payment in advance for the Services, we will refund these amounts to you.”
Important Update: As of our last Elite Singles review, it looks like this language has been removed from the TOS. That being said, we do still see some guarantee language for specific states in section 22. Here’s the states that honor the three business days or some variation of it.
- Arizona
- California
- Colorado
- Connecticut
- Illinois
- Iowa
- Minnesota
- New York
- North Carolina
- Ohio
- Rhode Island
Bear in mind that these TOS stipulations can change, so make sure to check the most recent version on Elite Singles’ website if you need to know.
